Paint correction

We fix what others cover up.

Swirls and scratches are dips in the clear coat. A lot of shops polish with glazes, or with polishes full of fillers, that hide the dips until a few washes bring them back. We level the paint with compounds, or wet sand it when the damage runs deeper, and we only suggest either when the paint has enough clear coat to work with.

FilledA glaze, or a polish with fillers, sits in the scratch. It looks finished at pickup. A few washes later, the scratch is back.

LeveledA compound, or wet sanding for deeper damage, takes the clear coat down to the bottom of the scratch. It's gone for good.

Clear coat, 40 to 50 microns Base coat Primer Panel
Measured first
We check the clear coat thickness on every painted panel before we suggest compounding or sanding.
Enough clear to work with
If a panel doesn't have the clear coat to spare, we won't compound or sand it, and we'll tell you before we start.
Through the clear
A scratch that goes through the clear coat into the color needs paintwork, and we'll tell you up front.

Detailing FAQs

Straight answers

The questions people ask before they book.

All detailing FAQs
Does polishing damage the paint?

No. Polishing thins the clear coat slightly, so we measure its thickness on every painted panel first, and we only compound or sand a panel that has enough clear coat to work with.

Does polishing remove all scratches?

Polishing removes mild scratches. Deeper ones take a compound or wet sanding, and only on a panel with enough clear coat to spare. A scratch that has gone through the clear coat into the paint needs paintwork.

What does paint decontamination mean?

Removing what a normal wash leaves behind. It takes two stages: a chemical decontamination, then a mechanical one with a clay bar.

How much does a detail cost, and how long does it take?

It depends on the service, the size of the vehicle and the condition it's in. Detailing packages start at $175. Tell us about your vehicle and we'll quote it.
