Drew, the driving force behind Ultimate Finish LKN, has a story deeply rooted in a passion for detailing and a heritage steeped in automotive enthusiasm. His journey began humbly, in the driveway of a friend’s house, armed with a desire to make vehicles shine like never before. Together, they explored a multitude of off-the-shelf products in search of perfection, forming the foundation of Drew’s detailing experience.
The pivotal moment arrived when, during high school, Drew was hired by a boat dealership and began his adventure into the world of professional detailing. Here, he honed his skills and deepened his understanding of the intricate art of detailing. As he turned 19, Drew embraced entrepreneurship by offering his detailing expertise on the side, marking the genesis of what would become Ultimate Finish LKN.
However, Drew’s journey is more than just professional growth; it’s a reflection of his lineage. He inherited a profound love for combustion-driven marvels from both sides of his family. It was his father and grandfather, however, who played the largest roles in nurturing his ardor for these feats of aluminum and steel, which we rely on for transportation.
Drew’s grandfather, a World War II fighter pilot, an inventor, and a dedicated tinkerer, imparted a spirit of curiosity and innovation. Meanwhile, his father, with a multifaceted career within the automotive industry, introduced Drew to a myriad of automotive facets, kindling his fascination for cars, trucks, planes, and motorcycles.
The fond memories of Drew’s childhood are filled with the resonating rumble of his father’s big-block Chevelle as they returned home from car shows. The attention to detail was ingrained from an early age – towels covering the seats to protect from any dirt that could be tracked in, meticulous hand-wiping with wet wipes, and kicking off shoes before climbing into the 50-year-old interior.
Over the course of two decades, Drew’s father’s cherished car has never felt the touch of water, a testament to the dedication to preserving automotive excellence. These principles extended to Drew’s parents daily drivers, where cleanliness and respect were paramount. The mantra “Don’t touch anything until after you wash your hands!” still echoes in Drew’s ears today.
Conversations with Drew’s father have added depth to his understanding, bridging the generational gap. Drew’s father, during his youth, detailed friends’ cars on the side, employing “carnauba” wax, the precursor to today’s “ceramic” coatings.
These formative experiences, the product of two individuals who held immaculate standards, have profoundly shaped Drew’s approach to detailing. As he has matured and delved deeper into the industry, his knowledge of detailing products has reached new heights.
Ultimate Finish LKN prides itself on using some of the finest products globally, with coatings made in the United States and a range of cleaners, compounds, and protectants sourced from the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany. The focus is on delivering products that prioritize health, quality, and performance.
Now, in his mid 20s, Drew stands at the forefront of an evolving industry as a new generation takes the reins. With the average price of new cars and boats reaching astronomical heights, Drew aspires to be the go-to authority, safeguarding and enhancing these cherished machines against the ravages of time and neglect.
